Most Common Herbs Used In Treatment For Infertility Caused By Endometriosis

Most Common Herbs Used In Treatment For Infertility Caused By Endometriosis

Article by Emma Kinsley

If you are one of the 13 million women who are diagnosed with Endometriosis, you know that while the pain may be a major problem there is a much larger issue with Endometriosis and that is infertility. Endometriosis contributes to infertility because it is a condition that is based largely on estrogen balance.

For a body to be fertile, a healthy balance of hormones is required. Not only that, but since Endometriosis causes tissue to grow in the uterus that don’t belong there, the area becomes compacted and an embryo is less likely to be able to attach and grow in a healthy manner.

It gets even more intense from here. Every month these excess tissues bleed and inflammation occurs which may eventually lead to scar tissue, congesting the area even more than before. Some research has been conducted that supports the idea that the body attempts fighting off this excess endometrial tissue by forming antibodies which may attack the uterine lining as well. This increases the rate of miscarriage by three times the normal rate.

Many recommendations exist for treating infertility that has been created due to Endometriosis. Some women attempt to engage in fertility enzyme therapy which is an effective natural treatment for Endometriosis. These have been known to reduce the amount of scar tissue and digest excess tissue, thus opening up more area in the uterus that was previously occupied by unnecessarily formed tissues.

A diet rich in fiber has proven to get rid of excess estrogen. Some foods that have high fiber contents include broccoli, leafy greens, swiss chard, chia seeds, and quinoa. If pain is also a concern in your Endometriosis, a diet with omega 3 fatty acids has been known to lessen the pain.

There are a few other herbs and supplements that aid in reversing Endometriosis fertility issues. A few of them are listed below but these aren’t the only viable best herbs to cure Endometriosis infertility.

Progesterone: Progesterone, when used during days 8 to 26 of your menstrual cycle, reduces the effects of estrogen on the body. It has been proven effective after a time period of roughly 6 months and once endometrial outbreaks are under control, it can be reduced to days 12 to 26 of the cycle instead.

Pycnogenol: Pycnogenol is an antioxidant that has been proven to assist women who have Endometriosis by improving egg health and increasing sperm health as well so your partner could also aid in the effort to conceive by taking it as well.

DIM: DIM is able to balance the hormones in your system by breaking down estrogen and removing it from the body. Since Endometriosis is a condition dealing with estrogen, it is a viable treatment. If less estrogen is present in the body, endometrial tissue growth should also be slowed.

Vitalzym: Vitalzym removes fibrin buildup and increases circulation to the reproductive area. It contains a specific enzyme that aids in dissolving endometrial tissue which congests the uterus. Taking 3 to 4 capsules 3 times a day between meals is the recommended dosage.

Maca: Maca is a unique fertility aid in that is helps balance hormones but it doesn’t contain any itself, for those women who don’t want to add any extra hormones to their already out of balance body. It does this by balancing and providing nourishment to the endocrine system.

Know that there are alternatives to surgery and medical treatments if you’d prefer to go a more natural route by using all natural herbs and treatments for Endometriosis. Many women have successfully treated their Endometriosis by using Complimentary Therapies and there are many to choose from.

Using Avalide For Safe Hypertension Treatment

Using Avalide For Safe Hypertension Treatment

Article by Jason Brown

Hypertension is a major health concern all over the world and more so because of the hectic lifestyles we live today. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one of every three adults in the United States, i.e. 31.3 percent suffers from high blood pressure. Around 70 percent of the people who had high blood pressure and were on medicines had controlled their blood pressure. Of these the control rate among hypertensive patients was 46.6 percent. Among the various medications being used to treat hypertension effectively is Avalide. This medication is a combination of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide. Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic helps to prevent the absorption of excess salts by the body which can lead to fluid retention. Irbesartan on the other hand belongs to group of drugs known as angiotensin II receptor antagonist, which improves blood flow and prevents the narrowing of blood vessels.

Usage of AvalideAvalide is basically used for the treatment of patients suffering from hypertension or whose blood pressure cannot be controlled sufficiently through mono-therapy. It is also used in the initial therapy of patients who may require multiple drugs for controlling their blood pressure. However, the choice of using it as part of the initial therapy for treating hypertension must be based on the assessment of the potential risks and benefits.

Patients suffering from stage 2 hypertension are at a higher risk of suffering heart attacks, strokes, heart failure, kidney failure and even vision problems, so prompt treatment is necessary. The decision of using combinations during the initial therapy should be based on considerations such as the patient’s base line blood pressure, the goal, the chances of achieving the goal etc.

Avalide: Things to Know Before UsingCertain medical conditions can react with Avalide, so it is advisable that you consult your doctor, physician or pharmacist first. Here are some important things you should talk to your doctor about before you start using Avalide.

You are breast feeding or planning a pregnancy. You are on some sort of prescription or non-prescription drug, dietary supplement or herbal preparation. You are allergic to certain foods, medications or other substances. You have had a severe reaction (such as swelling of the face, eyes, lips, tongue or throat, or had trouble breathing or swallowing) after using any other form of angiotensin II receptor blockers or any angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor.Your blood volume is low, you are dehydrated, have low blood potassium, sodium, magnesium or chloride levels or high levels of calcium in the blood. You are suffering from diabetes, asthma, gout, heart problems (like congestive heart failure), gall bladder, kidney or liver problems and high lipid or cholesterol levels. You have had a nerve surgery recently. This medicine may even react with certain other drugs so make sure you talk to your doctor especially if you are on any of the following medications:Ketanserin or dofetillide as it may increase irregular heart beat risks.Barbiturates, adrenocorticotropic hormone, corticosteroids, narcotic medications for pain, diuretics or any other high blood pressure medication as they might increase Avalide’s side effects.Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, colestipol or cholestyramine as they might decrease its effectiveness.Diazoxide, lithium, digoxin or non-depolarizing muscle relaxants, as Avalide might increase their side and toxic effects.Insulin, diabetes medicines, or pressor amines as they reduce the medicine’s effectiveness.Avalide: Side EffectsHere we will take a closer look at the side effects associated with Avalide.

Common Side Effects: Common side effects include dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting.

Severe Side Effects: You must seek immediate medical attention in case these severe side effects appear when using Avalide.

Pancreatic cancer ” Treatment for Pancreatic cancer

Pancreatic cancer ” Treatment for Pancreatic cancer

Article by peterhutch

The pancreas is a spongy, tube-shaped organ about 6 inches long. It is located in the back of the abdomen, behind the stomach. The head of the pancreas is on the right side of the abdomen. It is connected to the duodenum, the upper end of the small intestine. The narrow end of the pancreas, called the tail, extends to the left side of the body.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most serious of cancers. It develops when cancerous cells form in the tissues of your pancreas • ” a large organ that lies horizontally behind the lower part of your stomach. Your pancreas secretes enzymes that aid digestion and hormones that help regulate the metabolism of carbohydrates.

Pancreatic cancer is a malignant tumor of the pancreas. Each year about 33,000 individuals in the United States are diagnosed with this condition, and more than 60,000 in Europe. Depending on the extent of the tumor at the time of diagnosis, the prognosis is generally regarded as poor, with few victims still alive five years after diagnosis, and complete remission still extremely rare

Signs and Symptoms of Pancreatic Cancer

Loss of appetite and unintentional weight loss. Unintended weight loss is a common sign of pancreatic cancer. Weight loss occurs in most types of cancer because cancerous (malignant) cells deprive healthy cells of nutrients, and this is especially true in pancreatic cancer.

As the cancer grows and spreads, pain often develops in the upper abdomen and sometimes spreads to the back. The pain may become worse after the person eats or lies down. Cancer of the pancreas can also cause nausea, loss of appetite, weight loss, and weakness.

Jaundice is caused by a buildup of bilirubin (a substance produced in the liver) that causes a yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes. Jaundice may also cause brown urine and clay-colored stools. It is important to note that jaundice may be caused by a number of less dangerous conditions, such as anemia. The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are generally vague and can easily be attributed to other less serious and more common conditions. This lack of specific symptoms explains the high number of people who have a more advanced stage of disease when pancreatic cancer is discovered.

Treatment for Pancreatic cancer

Radiation therapy uses high-energy X-rays to destroy cancer cells. You may receive radiation treatments before or after cancer surgery, often in combination with chemotherapy. Or, your doctor may recommend a combination of radiation and chemotherapy treatments when your cancer can’t be treated surgically.

Surgery may be done to remove all or part of the pancreas. Sometimes it is necessary to remove a portion of the stomach, duodenum, and other nearby tissues. This operation is called a Whipple procedure. In cases where the cancer in the pancreas cannot be removed, the surgeon may be able to create a bypass around the common bile duct or the duodenum if either is blocked.Endoscopic stent placement: A stent (flexible tube) is placed in the bile duct to drain the bile into the small intestine or outside the body as needed. This is done when the tumor is blocking the bile duct and there is a build up of bile to prevent further build up.

Chemotherapy drugs kill cancer cells but also damage some normal cells. This can lead to side effects, which depend on the type of drugs, the amount taken, and the length of treatment. Short-term side effects might include nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, hair loss, and mouth sores. Because chemotherapy can damage the bone marrow, where new blood cells are made, blood cell counts might become low.

Natural Breast Cancer Treatment Options – Saving Breasts, Saving Lives

Natural Breast Cancer Treatment Options – Saving Breasts, Saving Lives

Article by Michael Edson

Women are taught early to do self exams, and to have breast exams along with their annual pap smears. Although the American Cancer Society recommends mammogram screening for women age 50 or earlier if there are risk factors, radiation from mammograms may actually cause breast cancer. The pressure from squeezing the breast during a mammogram can also spread cancer cells. One study in Sweden followed 60,000 women, and found that 70% of mammogram readings that found tumors were false positive, confirmed by biopsy, leading to unnecessary stress and invasive biopsies.

Breast lumps that are soft, smooth, round and movable are likely benign. A hard, oddly shaped lump that feels firmly attached is usually cancer.

Standard testing for breast cancer includes mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI and biopsy. Breast cancer is commonly treated with surgery to remove the lump or to remove the breast and surrounding lymph nodes. This surgery and radiation treatments can cause lymphedema, or a build-up of lymph fluid in fatty tissues just under the skin. Women who suffer with lymphedema may lose the mobility of their arm, experience pain, itching and thickening of the skin, insomnia, hair loss and irritability. Chemotherapy causes vomiting, hair loss, nausea and extreme fatigue. Radiation of the chest can cause heart damage and severe heart disease may follow. If the cancer growth is spurred by hormones, then hormone blocking drugs are added to the treatment program. Tamoxifin and Herceptin are two such drugs.

There are other options such as those offered by Hope4Cancer Institute in Baja, Mexico. They combine SonoPhoto Dynamic Therapy, local and whole body hyperthermia, detoxification, immunotherapy, nutrition, enzymes and IV therapy.

Sound wave hyperthermia has been used in Europe for three decades, although this type of hyperthermia has not been approved in the USA. Hyperthermia uses specific sound wave frequencies to heat cancer cells and destroy them. These frequencies do not affect normal cells, so there are no side effects. Treatments are painless and non-invasive.

Breast cancer treatment – Anastrozole

Breast cancer treatment – Anastrozole

Article by Bhupinder Kaur Khera

Anastrozole is a potent and selective non-steroidal aromatase inhibitor drug, used to treat breast cancer after surgery and for metastases in post-menopausal women. Aromatase inhibitor works by interrupting a critical step in the body’s synthesis of estrogen. It hinders the enzyme aromatase which block the synthesis of estrogen. These estrogens help in stimulating and maintaining the growth of many cancers taking place in the breast. Thus hindering the growth of estrogen is essential to suppress the growth of breast cancer.

The study also indicated that Anastrozole is the preferred medical therapy for postmenopausal women with localized breast cancer that is estrogen receptor (ER) positive, where the risk of recurrence was reduced to 40%, and ER negative patients also benefited with this drug. This medicine has proven to be effective in the off-label use of reducing estrogens in women and estradiol in men. Excess estradiol in men can cause benign prostatic hyperplasia, gynecomastia, and symptoms of hypogonadism. This drug is also used in the treatment of children with growth disorder to stop or slow the onset of puberty and in the treatment of moderate-to-severe pubertal gynecomastia.

There are various therapy available to treat breast cancer such as radiation therapy, biological therapy, surgery, chemotherapy, and hormone therapy which is determined by your health care provider and recommended depending on the situation, type, or stages of breast cancer along with your health and age, so that it meets your medical needs. Before treatment mammogram films, biopsy slides, and pathology reports, are important. Sometimes local therapy may be used if breast cancer has spread to other parts of the body with the aim to control the disease. Surgery or radiation therapy will destroy cancer in the breast. Some women may undergo systemic therapy to shrink the tumor before surgery or radiation while others may undergo after surgery or radiation to prevent the cancer from recurring. This Systemic therapy is also used for cancer that has spread. For the treatment of systemic breast cancer, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, or biological therapy may be recommended by your health care provider. After recovering from breast cancer and treating it, breast cancer can again occur anytime even without showing any signs or symptoms. So it is very important to keep a follow up and regular check up with your doctor. Also if you have any health related problems you should consult your doctor immediately.

Researchers are currently testing high-dose of chemotherapy to treat breast cancer in a better way. Anastrozole is usually prescribed as an adjuvant therapy ( after surgery to remove the cancer) in women with early breast cancer to treat post-menopausal women that has not spread. This medicine can also be used to treat women with breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, that is advanced breast cancer, or in breast cancer that has come back after initial treatment. Treatment may be continued over a period of months or a number of years depending on individual and it differs from patient to patient. Women taking Anastrozole are likely to face bone fracture. To reduce bone fracture and strengthen it, other medicines like statins may be included and prescribed by your doctor.

Hormone Therapy Treatment in India at Mumbai and Delhi at Low Cost.

Hormone Therapy Treatment in India at Mumbai and Delhi at Low Cost.

Article by Pankaj Nagpal

Overview

Hormone therapy

Hormone treatments are treatments using natural body chemicals called hormones, or drugs that block hormones. Hormones are chemicals made in one part of the body, that travel in the bloodstream to make something happen in another part of the body. Some cancer cells need hormones to grow, or are encouraged to grow more quickly by hormones. These cancers are said to be ‘hormone sensitive’ or ‘hormone dependent’.

They include : -

Breast cancerProstate cancerUterine (womb) cancerOvarian cancer

Hormone treatments are also sometimes used for kidney cancer, thyroid cancer or melanoma.

What hormone therapy is ?

What hormones are : –

Hormones are natural substances made by glands in our bodies. The network of glands that make hormones is called the endocrine system. Hormones are carried in our bloodstream and act as messengers between one part of our body and another. They control the growth and activity of certain cells and organs.

What hormone therapy is : –

Hormone treatments use the sex hormones produced by our bodies, or drugs that block them, to treat cancer. Not all cancers respond to . Doctors might use for people with cancers that are ‘hormone sensitive’ or ‘hormone dependent’. This means that the cancer needs the hormone to grow.

Cancers that can be hormone sensitive are : -

Breast cancer Prostate cancer Womb cancer (uterine)

How hormone therapy works : –

Cancers that are hormone sensitive or hormone dependent need hormones to grow. So stopping the hormone reaching the cancer cells may either slow down or stop the growth of the cancer.

can work by eitherStopping hormones being madePreventing the hormone reaching the cancer cell

Types of hormone therapy : -

There are a number of different types of hormone therapy. Which one you have depends on a number of factors, including your type of cancer.

There is information below on

Breast cancer Prostate cancer hormone therapyWomb cancer Breast cancer hormone therapy

The female hormones oestrogen and progesterone affect some breast cancers. Doctors say these cancers are either oestrogen receptor positive or progesterone receptor positive, or both. Hormone treatment for breast cancer works by stopping these hormones getting to the breast cancer cells.

There are different types of hormone therapies that doctors use to treat breast cancer

TamoxifenAromatase inhibitorsPituitary down regulatorsTamoxifen

Tamoxifen is one of the most common hormone therapies used for breast cancer. Both pre and postmenopausal women can take tamoxifen. It works by stopping the hormone oestrogen from reaching cancer cells.

Aromatase inhibitors

These are a relatively new type of hormone therapy. You can only take them if you have been through the menopause. After menopause, your ovaries stop producing oestrogen. But your body still makes a small amount by changing other hormones (called androgens) into oestrogen. You need an enzyme called aromatase to make this change happen. Aromatase inhibitors block this enzyme so it can’t convert androgen into oestrogen.

There are a few different types of aromatase inhibitor, including : -

Anastrozole (Arimidex®)Exemestane (Aromasin®)Letrozole (Femara®)

Pituitary down regulators

A gland in the brain, called the pituitary gland, controls the amount of sex hormones made by the ovaries. Pituitary down regulators are drugs that prevent the ovaries making oestrogen or progesterone. They do this by blocking the signal from the pituitary gland to the ovaries.

You will only have this treatment if you haven’t yet had your menopause. After menopause, your ovaries don’t produce hormones so this type of drug won’t help. Pituitary down regulators include goserelin for breast cancer (Zoladex) and leuprorelin.

Prostate cancer hormone therapy

Prostate cancer depends on the male hormone testosterone for its growth. Hormone therapy aims to reduce or stop the body making testosterone and slow down or stop the growth of the cancer.

There are different types of hormone therapy

Pituitary down regulatorsAnti-androgens

Pituitary down regulators : –

A gland in the brain, called the pituitary gland, controls the amount of testosterone made by the testicles. Pituitary down regulators are drugs that prevent the testicles making testosterone. They do this by blocking the signal from the pituitary gland to the testicles.

Pituitary down regulators include : -

Goserelin for prostate cancer (Zoladex)Leuprorelin (Prostap)Triptorelin (Decapetyl)

Anti-androgens : –

Prostate cancer cells have receptors on them that take up testosterone. Anti-androgen drugs work by attaching themselves to these receptors. This stops the testosterone reaching the prostate cancer cell.

There are a few different types including : -

Bicalutamide (Casodex)Cyproterone acetate (Cyprostat)Flutamide (Drogenil)Womb cancer

The female hormones oestrogen and progesterone affect the growth and activity of the cells that line the womb. Doctors give the hormone progesterone to help shrink larger womb cancers, or to treat womb cancers that have come back. There are different types of progesterone treatment, including medroxyprogesterone acetate (Provera) or megestrol (Megace).

General side effects of hormone therapy

We all react differently to treatment and you won’t necessarily have all the side effects that we have listed below.

Side effects of hormone therapy for women

The side effects you might get depend on the type of hormone therapy you are on. Remember the side effects we have listed are general. You can find more information about side effects of specific hormone therapies in this section of CancerHelp UK.

General side effects include : -

TirednessStomach upset and other effects on your digestionMenopausal symptomsEffects on your muscles and bonesOther effectsTiredness or fatigue

You may feel more tired when you are taking hormone therapy. For more information about coping with fatigue see the section on cancer fatigue.

Digestive system

Hormonal therapies can affect your digestive system in different ways

You may feel sick. This is usually mild and settles down after a few days to weeks. Your doctor can prescribe anti-sickness tablets, which should help

You might have constipation or diarrhoea – this is usually mild and easily controlled with diet or drugs

You may lose your appetite a bit, or have an increased appetite – this might lead to weight changes

There is more information about coping with sickness, bowel problems and eating problems in the symptoms and side effects section of CancerHelp UK.

Menopausal symptoms

If you haven’t already been through your menopause, it may start when you begin . This could be either temporary or permanent. If you are taking a pituitary down regulator, your periods will stop. If you are taking tamoxifen, and are still having periods, they may stop or become lighter. You might also get other menopause symptoms, even if you’ve already been through it, for example hot flushes and sweating, decreased interest in sex and vaginal dryness. There is information about dealing with sweating in our symptoms and side effects section.

Muscle and bone changes

You may develop pains in your joints. This often settles down after a few weeks. You can take a mild painkiller to help control any pain you have.

Some hormonal therapy can cause thinning of your bones. Weight bearing exercise can help to protect your bones, such as walking, running, cycling or exercise in the gym. But check with your doctor before starting any new form of exercise, especially if you have not exercised for a while.

Tamoxifen doesn’t cause bone thinning and can have some protective effect on your bones.

Other general side effects

Other side effects women may have when on hormone treatments include hair thinning, headaches and mood changes.

General side effects of hormone therapy for men

The side effects you might have will depend on the type of you are taking. Remember the side effects we have listed are general side effects. You can find information about side effects of specific hormone therapies in this section of CancerHelp UK.

Treatment with Naturopathy

Treatment with Naturopathy

Article by charles

Naturopathy is a system that looks to treat the root cause of disease. Therapies include special diets, herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies, vitamins, enzymes, massage, etc. The Naturopath looks to bring the body back into optimal health with out the use of surgery or synthetic drugs. The basic principle of Naturopathy is to bring the body back into balance or homeostasis so it can resist disease verses treating the symptoms only with pharmaceuticals drugs and surgery, which can cause compounding side effects and leave the body out of balance. Naturopathy first came into light around 1900 by Benedict Lust. This remarkable man was an M.D., a D.O. and a N.D. who came to the United States from Germany. In 1905, Lust started the American School of Naturopathy, which was the first naturopathic college in United States. Dr. Benedict Lust also founded the American Naturopathic Society in 1919. Naturopathic medicine had great success in the early years, but after the discovery of penicillin in 1928, naturopathy went into a recession. Naturopathy is now making resurgence due to the fact that people are searching for alternatives due to many side effects of prescription medication. Many people are looking to Naturopathy because it is based on these six principles:(1) Safe and effective with No Harm(2) The Healing Power of Nature(3) Discover and Treat the Cause, Not Just the Effect(4) Treat the Whole Person(5) The Physician act as a Teacher(6) Prevention is the best “cure”A Naturopath identifies the self-healing power of nature inherent in every human being. Naturopathic doctors (N.D.) or naturopathic medical doctors (N.M.D.) identify and remove the obstacles to recover and stimulate the body’s self-healing mechanisms. Naturopathic practitioners emphasize a holistic approach to patient care. Naturopathy focuses on two areas: One, supporting the bodies own healing potential and the other is teaching people to adopt a lifestyle that promotes optimal health. Naturopathic doctors treat both acute and chronic diseases, the emphasis is on prevention and it can be best accomplished through educating people. In the early 1900 America was ranked as the healthiest nation in the World, to date we have fallen to 79th. It is no secret that most Americans are not reaching optimal health due to fact that we are undernourished and over fed. Our food is devitalized due, mass production, soil depletion, over processing just to name a few.Based on the National Health and Nutrition Education Survey(NHANES-joint collaboration of USDA and the Center for Disease Control), in 2002•93% Americans did not meet the Estimated Adequate Requirement (EAR) for Vitamin E•56% did not meet the EAR for magnesium•44% did not meet the EAR for Vitamin A•31% did not meet the EAR for Vitamin CMost Americans are deficient in some key nutrients that are at the very foundation of health.Naturopaths can be very helpful in determining which supplements can benefit you the most.

Small Intestine Cancer Treatment in India at Mumbai and Delhi at Low Cost.

Small Intestine Cancer Treatment in India at Mumbai and Delhi at Low Cost.

Article by Pankaj Nagpal

Small Intestine CancerOverview

Cancer of the Small IntestineThe , or small bowel, lies between the stomach and the colon. The small intestine is about 6 m (20 ft) long. Its primary function is to digest and absorb nutrients. The makes up more than 70% of the length and 90% of the surface area of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

The most common cancerous (malignant) tumors of the small bowel include adenocarcinoma, lymphoma, sarcoma, and carcinoids.

* In industrialized countries, adenocarcinomas occur most often.

* In developing countries, lymphomas are much more common.

* All these tumors have the potential to invade the bowel wall, spread into adjoining lymph nodes, and move to distant organs (metastasize).

Risk FactorsEach year, US doctors diagnose about 1200 malignant tumors. This is a small number relative to the frequency of tumors in other parts of the GI tract.

* It has been proposed that the liquid nature of the contents may be less irritating to the mucosa, the innermost lining of the small bowel.

* Rapid transit time in the small bowel may reduce exposure of the intestinal wall to cancer-inducing agents found in the intestinal contents.

* Other factors that might limit the presence or impact of potential cancer-inducing agents include the following:

o A low bacterial count

o A large lymphoid tissue component in the wall of the

o An alkaline pH inside the small intestine

o The presence of the enzyme benzpyrene hydroxylase

* Adenocarcinoma of the small bowel is associated with the following underlying conditions: -

o Crohn disease – An inflammation in the . Crohn disease usually occurs in the lower part of the small intestine, called the ileum. The inflammation extends deep into the lining of the affected organ, causing pain and making the intestines empty frequently, resulting in diarrhea.

o Celiac disease – Gluten intolerance

o Familial polyposis syndromes – An inherited disease in which the large bowel becomes carpeted by polyps of various dimensions during the second or third decade of life.

Definition of DiagnosisDiagnosis: 1 The nature of a disease; the identification of an illness.

2 A conclusion or decision reached by diagnosis. The diagnosis is rabies.

3 The identification of any problem. The diagnosis was a plugged IV.

The word diagnosis comes directly from the Greek, but the meaning has been changed. To the Greeks a diagnosis meant specifically a “discrimination, a distinguishing, or a discerning between two possibilities.” Today, in medicine that corresponds more closely to a differential diagnosis.

Cancer of the Symptoms

* Like most GI cancers, early symptoms of small bowel cancer tend to be vague and nonspecific.

They may include abdominal discomfort associated with the following : -

o Nausea

o Bloating

o Loss of appetite

* The following symptoms may indicate advanced disease and should be signs to seek medical attention: -

o Fatigue

o Weight loss

o Iron deficiency anemia

o Visible blood loss: Blood or a material that looks like coffee grounds may be vomited, or black stools may be passed.

o Severe nausea and vomiting because of a blockage in the small bowel by the enlarging cancer: Doctors frequently diagnose cancer during surgery for unexplained bowel obstruction.

o Jaundice (yellowish skin): This is a symptom in people with cancer that involves the upper small intestine because of blockage of the bile ducts draining the liver.

Cancer of the Small Intestine Treatment

* Surgical removal is the primary treatment for cancer of the .

* Chemotherapy or radiation therapy may be useful if the cancer is widespread.

* Radiation therapy may also be helpful if the disease is widespread or if local tumors come back.

* Surgery may also relieve symptoms when the cancer has caused a bowel obstruction. In this case, doctors may perform a bypass procedure or limited tumor removal.

Breasts Cancer Treatment – Chemotherapy Along With Hormonal Therapy

Breasts Cancer Treatment – Chemotherapy Along With Hormonal Therapy

Article by Toni Shai

The majority of breast cancers today are diagnosed at initial phases, meaning that the cancer may or might not exactly have spread to lymph nodes, but does not contain skin or muscle. Even in early-stage breast cancer, with small tumors no involvement of lymph nodes, adjuvant treatments may lengthen life and reduce danger of recurrence. These extra treatments include hormone medications, chemotherapy, or both. You will also must sit down with a medical oncologist to ask about the probability of cancer coming back outside the breast area and about what treatments you can take into account. In addition, you should ask to what extent all these treatments may help to reduce the risk of the cancer re-occurring, thereby helping you stay longer.

Anyone who has a tumor which is estrogen or progesterone receptor-positive should strongly consider having a hormone treatment, regardless of whether these are old or young, or pre- or postmenopausal. If a breast melanoma is hormone-receptor positive (estrogen or progesterone receptors are present), then a strategy that reduces the consequence of estrogen on cancer cells is recommended.

Tamoxifen is the most common agent in current use, and because doctors possess over thirty years’ encounter with tamoxifen, the benefits as well because possible side effects are well understood. Tamoxifen interferes with the binding of estrogen in order to its receptor; therefore, it has what is named an antiestrogenic effect on breast tissue and also the tumor cells, but may have estrogen-like effects within the bone, lipids, and the uterus. Because of this, tamoxifen is sometimes known as a selective estrogen receptor modulator, or a designer estrogen. Tamoxifen can reduce danger of cancer recurring from the treated breast, reduce the risk associated with cancer coming back outside of the breast in distant organs, and reduce the risk of an new cancer in and the second breast by 50 percentage.

Tamoxifen is taken orally such as a pill and is frequently prescribed for five several years. It is generally started out after completion of chemotherapy and might be given simultaneously as radiation.

For postmenopausal women, a new class of hormonal agents can be viewed. These are aromatase inhibitors you need to include medications such as anas-trozole (Arimidex), letrozole (Femara), and exemestane (Aromasin). In premenopausal woman, estrogen is produced primarily with the ovaries. In postmenopausal women, once the ovaries include stopped producing estrogen, estrogen is produced because of the conversion of androgens from fat using an enzyme called aromatase. Aromatase inhibitors work in postmenopausal women to cut back estrogen production so the hormone does not have a chance to stimulate cancer growth.

Studies have compared anastrozole to tamoxifen and it seems that anas-trozole is as very good, if not better, than tamoxifen, but long-term follow-up of women on these newer medications is just not yet available. Side effects noted throughout early studies include hot flashes and joint as well as muscle pain. There is an a little higher risk of weakening of bones and bone fracture using anastrozole, in contrast with the actual slight protective effect connected with tamoxifen. In addition, anastrozole is associated having a lower risk of bloodstream clots than tamoxifen and isn’t going to appear to increase the chance of cancer of this uterus.

Tamoxifen is generally advised for five years. This is because studies have demostrated that two years are better than one, five years are superior to two, but ten years will not be better than five. In fact, doctors see a trend for slight worsening of prognosis after five years, possibly due to the particular cancer becoming resistant to help tamoxifen. In addition, more years of tamoxifen is additional time during which serious unwanted effects like blood clots and endometrial cancer may create. These two side effects especially are seen more generally in women over 60.

The aromatase inhibitor letrozole has been studied in women who’ve completed five years of tamoxifen after which it take letrozole. This strategy is of a 43 percent further decrease in the risk of most cancers recurring or new cancer developing from the opposite breast. Side effects of letrozole are similar to anastrozole and include very hot flashes, joint and muscle agony, and increased risk involving osteoporosis.

Studies have recently already been reported using aromatase inhibitors for instance exemestane, following two to 36 months of tamoxifen use. This strategy was related to fewer recurrences compared to be able to five years of tamoxifen, although at this beginning stage no difference in overall survival has yet been reported.

Many questions remain unanswered. Is it better for the woman to take tamoxifen for five years and then take an aromatase inhibitor? Is it better to use tamoxifen for 2 to 3 years and then follow using the aromatase inhibitor? Is it better in the first place an aromatase inhibitor to begin with? What is the optimal duration for with all the aromatase inhibitors and what are the long-term side effects? Several large studies are underway that any of us hope will help reply these questions.
